My names Chris Guscott and I’ve been spinning tunes on and off since 1972 yes just 17 years old when the the call of the vinyl took its grip on me. Back then when money was as scarce as hen’s teeth, I decided to build my own kit, cobbling together some old Garrard SP25 mk11’s, I bought an old valve amp and some old speakers. My passion was playing my music, mainly Reggae at this time, to all my mates at the local youth club. the rest is history as they say.
My musical tastes started to develop into a more diverse range, apart from reggae I had always loved soul and Motown and having two Brothers that were musicians, I got subjected to the jazz they were playing and enjoyed it immensely, so now my tastes were taking me into the jazzy side of soul, funk and fusion. I did a three year stint at a local hospital radio which taught me a lot and luckily it opened some doors, the more memorable of which was a local night club, a regular two nights a week which lasted just short of three years. Still doing the odd mobile gig in between. About this time I broadcast a good thirty shows for a shortwave pirate station which was such an amazing buzz back in the day, before broadcasting was accessible to all but the biggest names.
Hanging up the headphones in the mid eighties for a break until the early 2000’s when I started again putting on parties for friends and playing some of my old tunes, finally getting into internet radio, which in my opinion is the way it’s all going. I’ve been with Love soul Radio London for some time now, broadcasting my first show just a few months after its inception. The station just bursts with enthusiasm that carries you along with it and makes broadcasting a real joy to behold. All my fellow jocks have a style of their own, which believe me, makes for a great listen. I still share that passion for playing the music and love mixing up the playlist, bringing the listener a varied and interesting range of music. But hey don’t take my word for it give us a listen every Thursday at 10pm and see for yourself. You may just hear something you like.
